What is the Dr. Modjtahedi Student Loan Fund?

The Fund provides educational assistance to qualified students of Iranian origin in the U.S. in accordance with Dr. Modjtahedi wishes to help educate Iranian youth. The Fund will be part of the Dabiri Foundation and will be managed in compliance of the laws of U.S.

How are the Funds used?

As interest free loan to needy and top students in accredited universities in the U.S.

Who is eligible?

  • Our most important goal is to help students with high academic standing.
  • We will also look at other qualifying factors such as:
    • Student’s economic standings
    • Community involvement
    • Exceptional performance or serious dedication to a hobby
  • To follow Dr. Modjtahedi’s dream to help the youth of Iran , the loan committee asks that each applicant submit a short essay (no longer than 1500 words) on "how effective of a role will they want to have in the future of Iranian youth".
  • The Loan Committee is also looking for individuals that would dedicate their time and talent to help the future candidates for this loan. 
  • Each recipient  will donate their time and stay involved with the high school or college students that are looking to apply for this loan, and will be available to mentor them.

Who is not eligible?

Students who have any relationship with any person affiliated by business to Dabiri Foundation. This includes the relatives of board members, advisory board members, and loan committee members.

How much is loaned per applicant?

This will be decided on a case by case basis. The loan will be provided based on the match between the applicant's eligibility and the objective of the Fund. The amount and the number of loans for each period will be determined based on the funding available. These will be announced at the start of soliciting for applications.

What is the process?

The loan committee will announce the topics of interest twice each year and begin collecting applications. Application forms will be available online. Each applicant must fill out an application form and mail the completed forms along with all required supporting documentations to the address provided on the forms.

Applications are evaluated by the loan committee twice a year. The committee will decide on the loans after due diligence that includes contacting the references provided by the applicants. Each applicant will be evaluated based on his/her match with very specific selection criteria as defined by the committee prior to the start of the evaluation period. Each member of the loans committee will evaluate and vote on all applicants independently and the applicants with highest rankings will be chosen for the awards.

An annual report with details and documentation on how their contribution has been utilized will be provided to all the donors.
